I am Julián Martínez.

I am an independent filmmaker, I have been making films for 4 years and it is something I truly love. I have produced several short films and I am finished making my most ambitious one yet. I also studied at tafe for a year on screen and media. I have extensively studied and written about the history of film censorship in the early 20th century. I specifically love directing and cinematography, being able to bring your vision to life is always a great feeling when you get to watch the finished product. Film is genuinely my passion and I cannot wait to see where I go.
Saul graduated from the Big Picture Academy at Five Islands Secondary College in 2024, demonstrating a strong work ethic and dedication to creative pursuits. Throughout their time in the program, Saul has passionately engaged in various forms of creation, including novels, games, world-building, and, most notably, film. For their Senior Project, Saul produced their first short film, Future Butterfly Past, taking on all roles—writing, casting, location scouting, filming, editing, and audio—showcasing an exceptional achievement. Their thesis on censorship in the film industry reflects a deep understanding of the social context of film and its role in driving social change. Saul’s drive and dedication to film production will position them well for further studies and a successful career in the industry. - Sarah Pike, FISC Big Picture Academy
